Hopper Penn arrested on drug charges

On Behalf of | Apr 13, 2018 | Drug Charges, Firm News |

Hopper Penn, the son of famous actors Sean Penn and Robin Wright, was arrested on drug charges in Nebraska after being pulled over while driving with his girlfriend on April 4. They were driving in a 1992 Volvo and accused of failing to signal properly for a turn. After they were stopped, the Nebraska State Patrol officer claimed to have detected signs of drug activity in the car. After police searched the vehicle, they found 14 grams of marijuana, 3 grams of hallucinogenic mushrooms and four amphetamine pills.

He was arrested and accused of several drug charges, including possession of a controlled substance and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana. Meanwhile, his girlfriend was also arrested and accused of two counts of possession of a controlled substance, relating to the amphetamines and the mushrooms. In Nebraska, possession of a controlled substance is a felony charge. Both were booked at the Hamilton County Jail.

Also an actor, Hopper Penn has starred in numerous films, including “War Machine.” He has spoken publicly in the past about addiction struggles, including a dependency on crystal methamphetamine that led to rehab. His father was reportedly a major force in past recoveries.

People who are accused of drug offenses in Nebraska could face lifelong consequences. That’s why alleged offenders may want to obtain legal representation. A criminal defense lawyer can help to challenge police evidence and practices while providing strong legal advice. To help avoid a conviction, an attorney could advocate for their client’s rights both before and during a courtroom trial.
